Some poker personalities recur time and again at poker tables and online poker games. These personality types can either infuriate us or intimidate us, especially when we’re not quite au fait with the world of poker and its weird habits.
Players who do not have a full deck
These players know nothing about poker; they only know the bare, bare basics: it has something to do with cards and the possibility of winning money is there. Do not fear them: they can’t do much damage to you or to anyone, really. Unless a whiff of luck their way comes, of course.
Players who pretend to be loaded
They want you to think they are high rollers so they always have loads of money to play with. These players are very easy to spot – they seem to be ADD and they nearly always give up playing.
Players who could’ve been Scrooge McDuck
These players can sometimes be fun to play against – but not for reasons that they’d appreciate. They’re generally predictable and would never dream to be reckless. They do not want to risk losing the money they’ve had to work so very hard to get. They tend to get bluffed easily and they won’t ever use their initiative to upset your game.
They huff and they puff and they blow everyone away
But not always in a good way. These players can easily confuse less experienced players by their outer demeanour. Perhaps they just have some luck on their side because they don’t appear to be good at poker strategy; they hide behind their bravado.
The lucky player
So you think that your opponent is lucky? Think again because there is no such thing as luck in poker. The only things you should be concerned about are skill, psychology and more skill. This player is definitely more skilled than you are because pure luck won’t get them very far.
The one with the slight bite
These players aren’t bad at all but their people reading skills need some sharpening up. They focus too much on getting the perfect hand but there’s something that does count in their favour: they could be fun opponents.
The player with the most testosterone
You’re going to struggle to beat this player. They have some solid experience in the game of poker and can easily read the situation at any table, whether online or offline. They aren’t afraid to face off to the more aggressive players but they also know when it’d be better to retreat rather than attack.
